Thinking
by Stephanie Shanklin

Giving too much thought to nonsense and the little things

Not understanding the important things in life.

Forgetting to truly enjoy the journey.

Changes, differences, beauty, life.

Ungrateful of the blessings and the miracles.

Seasons changing without notice or thought of what it will bring.

The new blending with the old.

Moving forward without thought.

Still thinking?

Stop, life is moving on.

STEPHANIE SHANKLIN (Barthelemy) is currently employed at Rutgers–Camden as the assistant director of the Education Opportunity Fund Program (EOF), and is seeking publication for her first book, Life's Journey through Faith and Poetry, a collection of poems. She has been writing for many years but has only recently started sharing her poems.
